I’m not qualified but I’m self-taught enough to teach people who are not computer savvy about maintaining and using computers efficiently. I also use this blog to talk about any updates/upgrades I made to my computer or area of work that people may find interesting.
If you want me to rant about a specific area, just ask and I’ll see what I can do.

Mauser's Computer Rants

Got the HAF 932!
I had spilled a small amount of PVA glue on my desk, and I couldn’t get it off with water. However I know from experience that WD-40 will clean ANYTHING. So I sprayed my desk with it and wiped it down clean. Soon after, I sat at my computer and as soon as I moved my mouse I noticed it was phenomenally smoother and is even giving me a false sense that the mouse is ‘lighter’. It completely removed any drag from under the mouse and makes it much easier on your wrist. This is an excellent pro-tip for anyone who plays PC games for any length of time.

“But I use a mouse pad.”

Granted most people probably do, but I often find myself moving around and using half my desk space while gaming. This is just for anyone who uses their desk surface.

Update on my new Thermal Compound

So I got this new thermal paste from Cooler Master. Just before I bought it I did a little more research into it; turns out pretty much all the cables on my stock Dell power supply would all have been too short to reach the components in the HAF 932 case.

So I bought a Cooler Master Silent Pro M 850W power supply to put into my old Dell case until I get the 932. Although it may not be the best one in the world it’ll certainly do the job for me for years to come. Features;

Motherboard 20+4 pin cable x1

CPU 12V 4+4 pin cables x2

Peripheral 4 pin cables x6

PCI-e 6+2 pin cables x6

SATA cables x9

Floppy 4 pin cable x1

850W (1020W max)

Copper and aluminum heatsink, Japanese capacitors, modularized cables, rubber padding (optional attachment) goes on front and back of PSU to reduce vibration, 135mm ultra silent fan. Only the motherboard and CPU cables are permanently attached, all others are added by the customer to improve air flow inside case and have more than enough length in them to fit any case size.

It blows my old stock Dell 460W out of the water big time, although it’s a bit longer and was difficult to get it in right but it fits smoothly. Excellent purchase and is officially my first ever computer upgrade to my pre-build Dell XPS 8300.

I really want a full tower case to put my pre-built into....

I really want a full tower case to put my pre-built into. Looking at the Cooler Master HAF 932.

7+1 expansion slots

Micro, normal and eATX compatible.

Shit tonnes of fans and space for water cooling.

Looks kick-ass.

This’ll be my first upgrade to the Dell XPS 8300 I got last September. Might get a new heatsink while I’m at it. I have OCD about a lot of things and heat efficiency is one of them.

Anti-Virus for the average user.

Choosing the right anti-virus can be down to personal choice but it can also be determined by what...

Quick Tip #2

If you have an older model Dell (at least a few years old) and want to reinstall Windows; press and...

Quick Tip #1

Manually update your antivirus daily.
